Thanks for visiting my website. My name is Elyse, and I’ve been writing poems for about seven years now. It started as a way for me to better explore my emotions, as well as those of the people around me. Initially, I saw my writing as embarrassing and lacked awareness of growing poetry communities. I kept returning to poetry as a creative outlet, though, rarely letting even my closest friends know of my interest. Over time I discovered how to feel proud of my ability to produce these pieces of writing. 

I was lucky to have teachers who shared my passion for words and the crazy ways in which they can be formed, and parents who continue to encourage me to express myself. 

I was born in the U.S., but growing up in different countries has made me frequently question all sorts of things like, Where is 'home' to me? Reality and reason can be my greatest enemies. Answers don’t just appear, they are found through mistakes, experience, and putting a pen to paper. Right now, I’m balancing high school and my personal life while still writing as often as I can.
