Frazzled

Said she looked frazzled,

What would you expect from a woman

Who barely has any hope left?

What would you say to someone like that,

Someone who has lived to see her children

Die before her, before their mother

Greif holds her, her husband is stuck in a detention center

And is unable to reach her

The hurt that she’s holding is heavy enough

She doesn’t need more but more keeps coming

As her neighbors and students and coworkers

Fall in numbers that grow larger every few seconds
