You’ve given me perspective

And taught me so much

People come and go

They walk into your life 

Or you walk into theirs

Hellos can be hard

But saying goodbye is what I find

Most challenging

Not everyone ends up leaving

Sometimes they stay

Most who do though

Start to slowly drift away

I remind myself to smile

‘Cause smiles hide the pain

I cross both my fingers
