City lights cast shadows

That dance well into the night

Fueled by your fingertips,

I join them

Becoming one with what’s around us,

The aged stones pressed against my butt

And the back of my head that your hand protects,

The worms wriggling their way out of their homes,

And the moon, almost but not quite full

Gasping for air, I notice your face

You look as lost as I feel

Basking in blissful ignorance,

Not worrying to check the watch on my wrist,

Not knowing when this moment may end

Wanting it to last forever
