Sophomore summer
You can’t approach her without alcohol
You need a drink or two or three
Before heading over to introduce yourself
The feeling in the back of your throat
Is fine since it’s all for your mind
So you don’t rant about nonsensical topics
To a girl you’ve never met
You’re too insecure to let them know who you are
I get that
You want the confusion of the warmth in your stomach
You don’t usually talk sober with girls you are interested in
Out of fear of saying something embarrassing
That’s alright
You have flings and get into relationships but not one ever lasts
None manage to surpass three months
Have you wondered why that is?
